Alternative to Detention (A2D)
In 2019, Shiloh House, in partnership with 7 counties, created the Alternatives to Detention program. This program is the first-of-its-kind in the state of Colorado and was established with the overarching goal of reducing juvenile recidivism and decreasing the prevalence of longer term placement in a higher level of care as a result of juvenile delinquency. Youth in this program reside in a safe and structured residential environment while they participate in robust assessment and evaluation to identify needs, strengths, and individualized recommendations. In general, youth admitted to this program have struggled with lower level delinquency behavior or they have recently entered into the juvenile delinquency system. The maximum length of stay for this program is 21 days with the intent of returning youth to a lower level of care with more robust and applicable outpatient services in place at the time of discharge.
