Serving Colorado youth and families since 1985.

Our Story

For almost 40 years, Shiloh House has been changing the lives of youth and families across Colorado. The growth Shiloh House has experienced is a testament to the unwavering support of community members, staff, volunteers, donors, and partners are the pillars on which Shiloh's mission stands.

1985

Our founders, Steven and Vicki Ramirez saw a need for youth suffering from family trauma. They believed that these youth deserved a consistent, loving, homelike environment; who better to provide that than themselves? In 1985, they created Shiloh House. The organization started with one home, sixteen boys, and six staff members. Today, we serve over 1,600 youth every year!

1987

The Ramirez family recognized that a traditional school environment did not provide the support necessary for youth who've experienced trauma to succeed. They established a school program equipped to support youth with high emotional needs. This program still exists today, graduating students at the high school level.

1990

In Shiloh House's mission to end childhood trauma, they needed to work with the entire family, not just the child to break the cycle. Thus, they adapted their services to work with all members of the family. Shiloh began implementing group and family therapy to create long-term success!

2006

Shiloh House's philosophy is to serve families within their local community, for it is within the family system that growth can truly take place. Shiloh House established a residential home in Longmont to offer more accessible services to northern Colorado, allowing more communities and families to be served.

2012

Our founders saw a need for youth aging out of the foster care system. Many of these young adults lack a support system to help them enter adulthood. Shiloh House began offering life skills coaching to those in need. Our life coaches help them develop skills like grocery shopping on a budget, managing their time, and applying for jobs--helping them become productive young adults in their communities.

2016

Shiloh House's vision was for youth and families in the Denver metro area to have a multitude of services in a central location. Shiloh House partnered with Douglas and Arapahoe Counties to open up the Family Resource Pavilion. Here, families and youth can receive the following services: assessment, education, respite, family therapy, and more.

2023

With the belief that it is one's duty to serve and meet the needs of their community, Shiloh House said, "YES" when asked to support unaccompanied refugee minors as they resettle in Colorado. In partnership with Lutheran Family Services, the Office of Refugee Resettlement, and the Department of Human Services, Shiloh House now serves this population through providing acculturative, clinical, and life skills support in a residential setting.
