Meet Evan!
Meet Evan, our Events and Food Service Manager! Evan plays a very important role in our mission to support youth in our community. He provides one of their most basic needs every day, food. It may seem simple to those of us fortunate enough to know where our next meal is coming from, but many of our youth did not have this luxury before they came to Shiloh House. Now, when they see Evan coming, they know he is bringing them a home-cooked meal. We call him Evan, but our youth have affectionately nicknamed him “the food man.”
With the holidays approaching, it can be a difficult time for a lot of our youth who are not with their families. Food is such a big part of the holiday tradition, so Evan and his team prepare special holiday meals for all of our houses. While these kids may not be with their families, Evan makes sure they get a loving meal and feel right at home with Shiloh.
For the past four years, Evan has not only served our youth but he also caters events at our Family Resource Pavilion and operates our Tranquil Brew Coffee shop. He and his team of two operate the entire department.
Even with the stress and hard work of running our entire agency’s food service, his passion for our youth and his love for his team keep him going every day. His dedication to our youth is remarkable. “I know every one of our kids’ allergies, what foods they like and don’t, and what they want to drink in the morning with their breakfast.” Evan is a constant presence in our youth’s lives that they can count on every day, providing not only their basic need of food but also friendship. “When a kid feels comfortable and opens up to you, that is the shining moment. That is why we do what we do every day.” We are grateful to have Evan a part of our Shiloh family and love his passion for our mission!
