Shiloh House’s Outdoor Program has been through a whirlwind throughout the past few weeks! It began with a saddening moment of loss that was met by overwhelming and gracious community support. We’re so grateful for the way our community completely rewrote this story for us:

During spring break, upwards of $5,000 of outdoor gear and supplies were stolen from a secured space at Shiloh Academy. With our Summer Outdoor Program beginning in just over a month, we needed to quickly come up with enough hiking boots, fishing poles, backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, and more for all the kids we serve over the summer. Our community responded with more generosity and support than we could have dreamed of!

Shiloh House has been overwhelmed by the compassion of our community in our time of need. We have received more than what was lost, and donations are continuing to come in! Thanks to everyone’s incredible support, our youth will be able to go on even more excursions this summer with better gear than ever before.

We’d like to give a special thanks to the outdoor stores, businesses and groups that responded to our need. Thank you: Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops, Kelty Camping Gear, Wilderness Exchange, Outdoor ProLink, Moosejaw, Pheasants Forever, and AVI Roofing for your tremendous support!

Our Outdoor Program is an important part of helping the youth we serve increase self-awareness and self-esteem through new and exciting learning experiences such as basic mountaineering, hiking, fishing, orienteering, backpacking, team building, and trust activities. We’re so excited and thankful to offer the youth we serve the opportunity to experience Colorado’s great outdoors and gain new, confidence-building skills this summer
