The holidays can be a difficult time of year for our youth at Shiloh House. While we do our best to make it so special, it can be hard for our youth not to feel that their situation is very different from other boys and girls their age. Thanks to the support and generosity of Target, Qdoba, and none other than the Denver Broncos defensive end DeMarcus Walker, the Shiloh House youth got to feel extra special this week!

On Wednesday, Target donated $4,000 to our residential programs! This was able to cover needed updates at our houses: from new vacuums and shiny pots and pans, to soft sheets and

fluffy pillows. The youth all got to pick out board games, sports equipment, and toys from Target with the help of DeMarcus Walker, who we learned is a big fan of board games too!

After shopping, the youth ate a delicious meal catered by Qdoba! Everyone was SO excited eat from a big Qdoba buffet,

especially since they brought lots of queso. What made the meal even better was enjoying it with DeMarcus. He did an amazing job answering each of the children’s questions and making sure they each walked away knowing how important they are. It was so powerful for the Shiloh youth to hear about DeMarcus’s struggles in his life, and how he worked to overcome them.

Our children learned that everyone loses sometimes, but it’s important to get back on your feet, stand tall, and keeping working hard!

Everyone ended the day by decorating some amazing gingerbread houses and taking home signed photographs of DeMarcus Walker! Our youth and staff at Shiloh House are so thankful for this opportunity from Target, Qdoba, and DeMarcus.
